I was pretty nervous going back into surgery, had being told that my uterus was in pretty bad shape after all our fertility procedures and c-sections. I'm so glad we switched doctors. Dr. Hager was so meticulous and took her time, making sure that Ben and I were both safe. I had a moment of anxiety going in, but luckily my dear sweet friend, Candace, was in the OR with me to pray and comfort me before they let Brett come in the room. Having her on one side and Brett on the other, they both helped me breathe my way through the panic until they put that beautiful boy in my arms.
The big sisters came in shortly with all the grandparents after I got back to my room and had feeling back in my toes. Emma was ecstatic, of course! Hannah wasn't too sure at first, but quickly followed Emma's lead. Now she wants to hold him and kiss him all the time and says, "my baby", and giggles while pointing out all of his little features.
We normally have someone come stay to help, but this time we decided to wing it on our own so we could keep the girls on track and Emma's school schedule in place. It helped us push ourselves into our own roles. This did, of course, mean that Brett was on full time parent duty for a couple days while I recovered in the hospital. He is such an amazing daddy. Ben and I snuggled and nursed for two days straight without a care in the world.
I can't even put into words how very happy I am to have our little family complete. Having all my babies on my lap and knowing that the gang is all here makes my heart want to burst. It was a long hard journey to have our family, but so very worth every little step! All three of these children are so perfect and special and unique, and I can't imagine life without any of them.
